This is a great game if you are a follower or fan of the series; just about everything I could have asked for.

User Rating: 8.1 | Robotech: Battlecry PS2
While watching the old anime show back before even Dreamcast was put on the market I dreamed of there being a game to match the cartoony graphics and style of the first half of the Robotech Series. Much to my delight, such a thing was delivered with the PS2, as it almost completely copies the style of the anime onto the gameplay and brings it to your home. I remember changing from back and forth from jet to guardian and such and just blasting everything in sight with my commander giving me orders like in the show. Then I went into the outer space mission to destroy the battleships and protect allies while the main ship was protected by it's shields and losing power from the constant onslaught. Then I'd just casually switch back and forth between my various mech forms and just lay down a world of hurt on the Zentrodi (I think that's there name, it's been a while).

The graphics very much fit the anime show and are top notch considering that is what they were aiming for; something someone who has never seen the show would write of as "mediocre" or "okay" graphics. The different versions of fighters, the various medals, and even the ability to pilot the infamous "Skull One" jet fighter are all nice little additions to the game. However, I was rather disappointed with the ending of the game.

The only reasons I would say that this game is not worth playing is because of the ending, it's like watching that giant 90-foot shark movie all over again (not Jaws for those who are thinking that); I want my two hours of my life back. However, if you're a fan of the series, then this will be a nice "play every now and again" game after you beat it just to remember the fondness of the anime show and be immersed within it.
