Rock band comes storming again with another hit, but your are hitting the same old waters.
The game has a lot of things that it has going for it in terms improvements. The visuals actually look sharper and the amount of content you can receive in the game is equally as impressive. You can import almost every song from the previews rock band versions (1,2) and play them in rock band 3. Although almost all the songs aren't playable in pro mode.
Other than the online and new modes, pro mode is once again where it is at. It's an impressive mode that will reward those that stick with it. You will however have to buy a new guitar and the keyboard to take advantage of this mode. To teach you how to play a real instrument is the game, and is succeeds at that.
I was however disappointed at the game modes. There isn't anything particularly new, and the lack of a "real" career mode is such a let down. I was also let down at how little the actual mechanics have changed. I honestly felt like I was playing Rock band 2, with just improved parts, but still with some features missing.
Overall: Rock band 3 is a great music game, that does little to change or to advance is genre. Sure the pro mode is revolutionary, but only time will tell if it actually makes the impact. As it stands it's a great music game, no doubt about that.
