No drums? No guitar?? This is gonna be interesting....

User Rating: 9 | Rock Band Unplugged PSP
So I, like many others were extremely skeptical when Rock Band Unplugged was announced for the psp. After convincing myself to purchase it I popped it in the umd drive getting ready to head back to Gamestop. Boy was I surprised!

This looks, feels, plays, and sounds like a Rock Band game. Instead of having plastic guitars, the game is solely based on rhythm. Back on the ps2, a game called Amplitude played similarly to this. The controls are simple. To access the note, you use the d pad rather than a guitar or drum. Certain buttons trigger certain notes. ALSO, instead of picking an instrument the game guides you along by after playing a phrase, you must switch to a different instrument by using R and L.

Aside from no instruments, this is defiantly a Rock Band game. Their is a tour mode where you make a band, travel across the world, and make cash while unlocking new songs. You can also buy clothing and instruments for your band. Aside from tour there is Survival Mode in which every instrument plays at once. This is challenging for your cant individually neglect one instrument for they will fail out bu them selves. Another great aspect about Unplugged is the store. New songs come out often for purchase. It works identical to the store on consoles.

But thus game is not perfect. There is no multilayer. None, zip, zero... This defiantly takes a chunk out of the re playability. The game becomes stale after awhile because of this factor. At least awhile refers to a good 10-20 hours of gaming:)

Overall, this is a neat idea executed almost flawlessly. Theres a deep tour mode, great customization, visual flair, and an interesting robust set of music with more from the Rock Band store for $2.99 (american) If multiplayer was added and possibly a new game mode for the sake of repetitiveness than this game would receive a 10. Its still packed with content though so Rock Band Unplugged gets a well deserving 9 out of 10.
