Learn to Play the Guitar, Maybe
Having said that, I am happy I picked it up and am slowly learning how to play chords, recognise how to move easily from one fret to the next and play with the beat. There is a slight delay, at times, that can make you miss out on points for notes you did indeed hit, but it washes out if you continue to practice. The most I get out of this game is that I can practice and get instant feedback. If I'm not getting through a particular section, the game will recommend a few mini-games. How helpful those games are is still in question, the baseball one I can't quite get because of the delay in the game. I'm not changing all my connexion cords because of one game.
I think if you want to dabble in learning the guitar, this is a great beginning step. The Rocksmith shop is quite vast, you can buy a lot of new music, get some for free every once in a while. I got stuck in one song and the community was pretty helpful, though Ubisoft itself was quite useless when I reached out for help from them.
I'll try to update this review as I progress further through the game, but the frustrations often outweigh the learning. The game is designed to help you progress through it, allowing you to lower scores as needed while I feel like it should be finding better ways to teach you how to play. Nothing will replace a real teacher and real classes, but if you can't do that, this is a viable alternative to be passable at playing the guitar, but I doubt you can achieve more than that.
