Nothing groundbreaking but fun nevertheless.
There is a lot of content in this game. It took me about 110 hours to complete the game and side missions so you get great value for the game. You have the main storyline, 2 extra missions if you finish the game and a lot of side missions to accomplish 100% of the game. The skills, spell and weapons are numerous per playable character. They are well drawn in the sense what you are wearing in terms of equipment is actually show as you walk around and fight. The spell effects are interesting to watch as such the battle sequences. The battle system is real time and somewhat challenging. There is plenty of battle areas with lots of beasts to fight randomly. The puzzles you’ll encounter will not be difficult for any seasoned gamer. The main missions are not difficult as well but interesting enough to see where your adventure party will end up next. The game is graphically decent and game controls easy to use and master. Even though the plot is decent with very few surprises it is a good Role Playing Game
What I don’t like this game. During the course of your adventures playing Jaster, the storyline steers you right away as a space pirate. Unfortunately you are no don’t get to be the “bad guy” or do really anything to deem yourself as an outlaw. There are many unnecessary storyline subplots which are particular needed but added on to enhance content but not the game. Not to spoil any surprises these side missions and completion list can downright be tedious (insectron) to frustrating (monster kill list). Speaking of monsters there are plenty of non boss monsters totaling over 200 but a lot of them are drawn with different colors and with more hit points in same species. There is no sound controls. You’ll find the ambient music playing to be intriguing at first but downright annoying in certain missions where you are subjected to the music for hours on end. Another reason to have sound/speech controls is what your characters blurt out once and awhile. They give clues on what to do next but are so repetitious to the point of nagging. And as with most RPG games the chance to level and gain gold can be quite repetitious and tedious and that includes this game as well.
If your looking for an RPG game for your PS2, you certainly cant go wrong with this choice but its not your only choice.
