very entertaining

User Rating: 7.5 | Rogue Galaxy PS2
Up until recently i never played RPG, but after playing Dragon Quest VIII. i decided to give a few of them a good try. I have had this game Rogue Galaxy for sinse release. I have played the game through the main storyline twice. The first time i made several mistakes or bad desicions lets say. The second time i went through the game with ease and found out many new ways to get the same results with out so many risks to health and tresure.

Lets get into the review, First let me describe the graphics, On my ps2 whch i took out of storage to play this game in reality i really didnt need to, seeing as thier is no difference with the graphics playing on the ps3 in my mind i even think it looks better on the ps3. but as for the ps2 the graphics really do push the console to it max limits. in some cases even its frame rate is to slow and slightly very apparent, but opver all it's great very clear and the frame rate is suprisenly right on with just a very few exseptions.

the sound is right on, but in the lengh of the game i find my party members seem to repeat the same lines over and over. over the 40 hours it takes to get through the main storyline it gets old fast. but i find it easy to over look.

The story line starts out kinda slow i mean really slow, some great comedy moments and drips and drabs of what the heck you really are doing . but after several hours it starts to pull you into it by finalyletting you know what you are doping and what the goals of the game really are.when you reach the end it all ties in and the ending is lets say awsome.

The game play is kinda cool the hero is kinda like a fps but not, you can either allow your party members to follow your lead fight for them selves or even better get aggresive and just kill anything. takes a little while to get used to the controles but when you do its like second nature.

the game has a lot if side missions to break the boredome you will get after doing the same ole fighting over and over so the break allows you to regsain a fresh perspective of what it is you are doing.

the game is very long has several good boss fights some puzzle and even allows some great comedy.

over all i rated this game a 7.5 not because its a bad game, but because its sems to drag on in some areas. ti love long games but this one seems to add about 15 hours to long really.

the sound and graphics are great the game play is interesting the stroyline is great. just takes to long to get into it. the ending is awsome. replay value is increased with the two exta game levels of ghost ship and ghost ship exstreme now this one is long and hard you have 100 levels to get through and only 9 stores to rebuy health and stuff every 13 floors, but in the end it allows you to kill missing monsters and allows you to get the rest of the itiems need for your flow chart so replay value is really good. is it worth 50 bucks yes it is, but if you arent a true rpg fan you may want to rent to make sure you like the game before you dish out the cash.

Good luck and good playing.....
