Pirates who seem more like your average mismatched bunch of adventurers course a path for the ultimate destiny.
We are set up with our hero Jaster Rogue thrown admist a battle he was dying to be in but not expecting. Despite its typical beginning you are introduced to what runs one area of this galaxy, hunters. Those who fight beasts and kill rare creatures to earn a ranking and perhaps one day match the legenadary Desert Claw. A masked man sets you on this path and suddenly you are mistaked for this legend and without hesitating you flee your home planet, burdenend by marshall law of an imperial force and a dismal economy.
The group you join of course are a lawless band of Pirates... apparently ran by a cat while the captain naps, for quite awhile. Ok so overall the story is hashed together in a typical fashion, but hey its a video game. You control one of three party members in battles from planet to planet and swing and shoot your way through hordes of enemies. Your hunters rank is determined by the fact if you can knock out 35 gorrillas you'll get a nice set of points and slowly work your way up the ranks... of only 100 hunters. The game also provides more then just battle, a frog that eats multiple weapons and... regurgitates better ones provides plently of oppurtunities for mastering every weapon. Also owning your own factory and making bugs fight for the thrill of an audience add to your hours of side questing (I guess if it were chickens or dogs it'd be illegal).
The battle system aside being a hack and slash adds to the flow with special abilities, from power ups to devistating mass damage attacks. Again nothing we haven't seen before but its fun doing it. Thats the main point behind this game, its fun and the story is just good enough to keep you playing along until you get to the boss at which your band of mismatched Pirates will save the world, as always.
I had a blast on this one but given a better story or characters I could have had more to say. The battle is repetitive and overall the game is pretty easy unless you rush through it. A fun romp if you are missing some action rpg titles in your library.
