A good game and all with nice additions, but a little too similar to the first.
+++The Good+++
Similar to its predecessor in gameplay, still addictive, surprisingly deep, fun scenario editor
- - - The Bad - - -
Similar to its predecessor in choices, no sandbox mode or pause-construction
In case no one has figured it out yet, the main idea of the game is to build a thriving and successful theme park, with quite some emphasis on roller coasters. You have to make rides for guests that are wimps, ones for the average Joe, and ones for the dare-devils. You need to also make restrooms, ATMs, food and drink stalls, seats, trash bins, pathways, scenery, and so forth. However, all the micromanaging is actually fun and accessible.
Score so far: 6.2
That was the main Idea for the first game, and is for the second game. However, what seperates the game from the first is the secario editor. The scenario editor mode is probably the the most rewarding part of the game. You can edit anything, from how the park looks, to what rides are avaliable, to what scenery is there, to even what Items you can get from research (in their order, too!). While you can't create rides or attractions during it, you can choose the rules of the park, and even the amount of money you have (I prefer no money, with an inability to remove trees)
Score so far: 7.8
But there are also the minor things that make it a good game. There is a larger avaliable selection of scenery, adding to the visuals. The music is also improved, and will no longer make you turn the volume off. The guests are now smarter, making there be no requirement for you to pick them up to get them back on the path. The money is more balanced this time, and there is scenery sometimes included with the track design. However, my favorite minority is probably the improved editing system
Score so far: 9.7
However, the game also has some bad things, all of which were in the first game. There STILL isn't a sandbox mode, which is a letdown to fans of other series. The graphics are altered slightly, but they're still the same old song and dance. You can't build stuff while the game is paused still, and the isometric view point still has some problems (although it has gotten better). The exclusion of some of the land features in other games is also a letdown.
Final Score: 8.5
