The first of the Tycoon's and the best at that.

User Rating: 8.3 | RollerCoaster Tycoon Deluxe PC
Everyone remembers when RCT was released, mostly because of its rather new approach to the Simulation series, in a theme park, Sim Theme Park then took the same approach, and utterly failed with its bad series of theme park games. RCT is the best Tycoon series ever, it has since been the inspiration for numerous similar spawns, which are nowhere near as successful or innovative as the original was. Once installed you'll hear the screams of people careening down the track on a coaster, that should set the mood for the game alread. For RCT the contols are easy as can be, everything can be done with the mouse alone, yet if your like me you'll find the short-cut keys better with most things, like rotation of the camera angle and rides. The only thing that will keep anyone from picking this game up right out of the box is the ride creation tool, it can take a while for some people to really get the hang of the creation system. Graphically this game won't impress anyone anymore, nor did it impress anyone when it was released, but the graphics that it does have won't be a very bad sight to the select few who don't choose the graphics over the gameplay. That being said, odd lines on the coaster-trains and blurry people are the only rough areas to really be found.
Now on the 3rd instalment of the series the original is still as fun as ever, sadly if you don't have the VERY original of this game and its expansions you won't be able to enjoy the user-created rides and custom-made parks people have created. Since the Deluxe edition compiles all of the originals it changes some things around, most noticably is the ability to instal these games on an XP system. Which won't let you download the mod needed for the other mods.
Still enjoyable after all of these years, if your PC isn't up to par for the second or third parts of this series this game is highly recommended if it sparks any bit of interest.
