Although it has a confusing battle system, it's still a pretty good game. But it's not for everyone.

Romancing SaGa is not a game for everyone. If you like Final Fantasy and the way it feels, then you won't like any SaGa at all. Romancing Saga is not a linear game. You have to explore every single place and talk to every single person. Basically, what you do is, you select a character you want to play with, the minstrel will tell you about them a little, and then they just put you in their home town/village/city/keep. The battles in the beginning of the game (with the exclusion of Aisha) are easy. But once you get to the middle, they start getting harder. I've gotten gameover at least 3 times in 40 minutes. They should really tell you how tough the monsters are in an area against your party. At least your HP is automatically restored after a battle. And the traps on the playing field can get pretty annoying after a while. But the quicksave is very useful before opening treasure chests.
I think the graphics in Romancing SaGa re beautiful. I really like how they used water colours. And it's funny how all their heads are so big on their puny bodies. The music is great, it's not stuff that gets stuck in your head and get's anoying after.
Overall, this is a good game to have in your inventory so that when you have nothing else to play, and you have beaten it already, you have the other seven characters to beat it with.
