This game gets my worst game of the century award -- a waste of time unless you're stuck with a computer from the 80's.

Okay im reviewing this because im not just another beginner moaning about the graphics or the gameplay, im reviewing as a loyal customer who's pretty experienced at the game, got the hang of it, became pretty rich and became quite good... when i had the oldest slowest computer of all time. When i started playing this game, which was about a year and a half ago, i enjoyed the fact that it had a small amount of people playing a game which asn't very popular, but was different and pretty addictive. It had terrible graphics, and still has, but it didn't bother me too much. As i became levels 40-50 i became a member for the first time. I started by just doing quests, running around exploring, since i was a newbie. Then i became better and better.
When i got to about level 70, i started to make more and more money and gained more and more experience. The game had one unofficial website which was pretty much controlling the prices of items at the time and had all the guides necessary for newbs and experienced players. Then shortly after, more and more people trted playing the game, making it more popular than ever in their history.
Eventually as i became about level 80, the game became an infestation of hackers and real world item traders. The game then began banning a "few" people that they "saw" breaking the rules and threatened to ban anyone else found real world item trading, advertising, macroing or hacking accounts. I am very safe to say that they've done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to prevent websites from advertising, real world item sellers from continuing their little 'businesses' and have made drop trading an offense since they want pure accounts to start making money over again, for which i believe Jagex are out of their mind. Who would want to re-earn precious rich items on their secondary accounts and go throught the whole training process again? No other game has this moronic rule, for example Guild Wars has bank accounts that are shared between your different accounts, allowing you to share your items between your accounts. These however weren't the main problems. Here are the biggest downs.
At the moment i am level 90 who has had the richest armor in the game and other rare items (for those who play Runescape and who are wondering what armor, i mean full Dragon with Sq, santa, Fury, Archers and Zerker rings). At the present time, in Runescape its an everyday situation being called a "noob" by people 100 times worse than you, verbal abuse is a small offense according to Jagex and any account can get caught verbally abusing someone just under 30 times without getting banned. Yet that's not even the main problem! The biggest downs of this game are when the infamous Jagex decided to "upgrade" (*cough* hahahahaa *cough*) th games' graphics, making it lagg no matter where you go and making the game look even worse than before with just a small improvement of detail on monsters and the makeovers of a certain town in the game ruining the feel of it. Not only that, but adding to the problems are the so called 'autoers' of the game, which you can spot pretty much anywhere. They're bots to earn levels by automated software. Also outside any social gathering you always see some low level advertising his website to everyone.
And lastly and here comes the worst point about this game. This game used to be mainly controlled (unofficially) by 1 fan site. Now there are 3 massive sites that control the prices in Runescape. Most of them drop price on everything except the items that the real world traders have in high demand and supply. Then came along Runescapes grand exchange which halved the price of everything, therefore making rich people poor newbs again.
My conclusion is this: these reasons are the points which all add up to Runescape being the biggest disaster the gaming world has ever known (or not known mostly). Jagex aren't even a company. Them making one cheap made, ugly game on Java (which is an engine thats mainly used for little pop-ups and animations) is a disgrace without a doubt. If you're a beginner don't bother starting an account, if you're a current gamer on it -- get out fast. There are games out there that are a million times better than this trash. Thanks for reading.
