A great classic and way better than the first one! The best arcade racer for the 64!
The gameplay is awesome. You have a lot of options of things that you can do. You can either race the circuit or just single player levels to find all of the secrets. You can play mulitiplayer on the races or the stunt course, and then you could do the stunt course alone.
The handling of the cars is also very well done. This is an arcade racer, so don't be expecting some sim car racing game... this is racing like in the arcades at its finest!
The graphics are pretty good too. All of the levels look detailed, and the cars look really sweet. There are some rough edges with the graphics, but overall they are good. Some of the pop up sucks, especially in the multiplayer with the massive amounts of fog... and no, it isn't just San Fransisco waether! But, this doesn't hinder the experience too much at all.
The sound is okay. None of the tunes really come to mind, but the way that the cars sounded was pretty awesome. Some of the tracks pump you up with some up-beat tempos.
The replay value is high because of the multiplayer aspect of this game. It's just a lot of fun to run through these courses with friends, and there are a lot of courses to be had! If you can unlock everything, which takes some time, you are going to have a great time racing the courses in the varying conditions that you can set. It's awesome, and I still play this game today! The stunt course also makes for some really fun replay value, because you always wanna play that level and do crazy stunts!
Overall, this game is a lot of fun and i have a lot of fond memories of this game. I don't get why Gamespot has some wack scores, but everyone doesn't like something in life. This is a really good arcade racing game for the N64, and any arcade racer fan should check this game out! I, perosnally, think this is better than the original because of its look and feel. Check out Rush 2 if you want a really fun and exciting arcade racing game experience!
