Downed hope.

User Rating: 5 | Ryse: Son of Rome PC

I rated this as mediocre.

I did this since there could be some people who will applaud the graphic fidelity..or some of the voice acting. Or maybe even the story tickles some of your older memories from when you had first heard about this game. For me, mediocre is being indulgent when it comes to this game. This is the kind of game for which I would pay to have the old 'DEMO' reintroduced to the world of games - and I would pay double the amount the money required to get a copy of Ryse.

It is repetitive. You have no sense of purpose and you get no gratification after playing for more than 30-40 minutes when even the eye-candy gets blurry in your mind. Speaking of eye-candy - Although I can imagine the huge amount of effort put into making those levels 'plausible', if you want to play the game you don't actually have the time to properly admire them since almost all seems to be on FFWD.

To make the story short I would say this is a platformer infused action game. It could have been even playable - but remember those Prince of Persia games a few years back - this is a far shot from them from almost every point of view - and these were simply put up as a first thought up example.

In the end - PC version. I don't know why they continue to screw things up. You can keep the mechanics, the graphics, the gameplay - I understand. Even keep the menus. But the in game interface - change it.
