Certainly an MMO that Action fans should try.
The gameplay of S4 is actually somewhat similar to GunZ. Unlike GunZ , S4 is easy to understand and there is lesser button smashing involved. Sure , you'd need "skills" in this game as well but it's not as tiring as GunZ and it's simple and enjoyable.
In total , there are currently 4 Gameplay Modes ( If you ignore the sub-modes )
I'll explain them in order.
Chaser :
This is essentially a game of tag to the extreme. Basically , a "Chaser" would be chosen randomly out of the gamers who are currently in the room. The Chaser's role is to hunt down every single player on the Map itself. Targetted Players earn you more points ( The higher your score , the earlier your Targetted ) . Of course , the rest have to flee for their lives as Chasers are almost impossible to kill ( Unless you knock them out of the Map ) . In this Mode , if your not a Chaser , you still can earn points by accumulating damage on the Chaser him / herself. Surviving a match will earn you 15 points.
Deathmatch :
Basically , this is a Team Deathmatch game. Earn points by killing the offending Enemy and reach the designated score. Simple as that.
Touch Down :
This is just like Touch Down Rugby...except that there are fighting involved. Basically , you and your team have to grab a ball , run to the enemy's goal point and score. Sounds easy? The enemy ain't gonna let you in that easily. If you kill the enemy holding the ball or when your holding onto the ball yourself and killing an enemy , you will earn 4 points per kill. ( Or if you managed to protect the ball holder ) Unfortunately , the only way you can pass on the ball is via dying.
Training :
Title says it all , in this gameplay mode , turrets are placed all over the map and this is essentially used to get you used to a Map's routes and features.
Features :
This game involves a time-limited item feature. However , unlike most games which items expire even if you didn't log on , the items in the game only depletes it's remaining time depending on the time you spent in a match equipping that certain item.
Here , I'll explain the Shop Feature.
Shop :
In the Shop , you can buy items for 1 Day , 7 Days or 30 Days. Essentially , you have to take on a liscence training in order to buy certain weapons and meet up with level requirements to buy certain costumes as well. These equipments have bonuses which enchances your performance in battle as well.
Naturally , there is also a Cash Shop but there is also something called a FUMBI Shop. In this Shop , you depend entirely on your luck ( And 800 Pen , in other words , game money ) to win items. However , after a number of tries , you can freely select what items you want. Depending on your luck , you will get items that lasts for a brief moment or even for your entire S4 life time.
Skills :
In this game , you can purchase Skills. Some of them are Passive while the others need to be operated.
HP & SP :
In the game , you have two bars. HP and SP. HP should be fairly obvious and it could only be regenerated by a special weapon. SP on the other hand is something like Mana , it would regenerate if used up but at a fairly slow pace.
Weapons :
Your probably wondering that sort of equipments is in the game itself. Well , there are Submachine guns ( Two hand-styled ) , shotguns , semi rifles , handguns , swords , baseball bats etc. etc.
Well , each weapon differ greatly from each other despite the lack of variety and style.
Gameplay ( 2 ) :
Now , I'll generally run through the gameplay. In this game , you can jump on walls ( Don't imagine anything impressive , all you do is flip away from the wall ) , dash , shoot and slash etc. etc. Depending on your equipped skills , you may fly or use a hook to get up to higher grounds.
Music :
In the game , mostly rap music were used. But there are occasional pop looping songs.
Maps :
Generally , the maps are Arena styled but there are spacious maps as well. But it's easy to run into your enemies in most of them.
Overview :
Well , I don't think I have explained the details of the game clearly enough but either way , when this review was written , the game really lacks a variety of items and game modes. However , it is also surprisingly addictive and fun , an easy - to - understand form of gameplay that do not require you to smash your keyboard into retirement and surprisingly enough , teamwork is definitely needed in some game modes. I assure you that if you had enjoyed GunZ , you would definitely enjoy this. If you didn't play any games similar to this , all the more you should try it out.
