Found this, older game, in the bargin bin of Walmart for $9.99, and it was well worth the price!! Safecracker is a visually rich, puzzle game. The basic premise is the need to sign a job application. However, since the job is for a safe company, you must open several dozen safes, all with different style locks, in order to retrieve clues that will lead you to the main safe. Set in a mansion, the rooms are filled with old wood, interesting object of art, and rich tapestries. Some of the items can be interacted with, and the interactions can give clues or hints as to the location of the next safe or clue. The building is filled with traps designed to styme, rather than hurt, the player, and they must be disabled, solved, or bypassed in order to move to the next level of the building. Safe combinations range from number puzzles, light panels, and standard dials, to hyroglyphs, pictographs, and word puzzles. Each must be solved, and their contents examined, and retained, to be used later in the game. The music for the game is haunting, but after a time becomes a bit annoying, so I turned it off. Although the puzzles are fun, a few, for example the picture safe, in which a painting must be reassembled correctly by moving the tiles one at a time, can be a bit frustrating. This game could be replayed with the same enjoyment that a jigsaw puzzle can be rebuilt.
