Volition knows exactly how to entertain gamers in this sexual-theme sandbox.
the changes SR3 from SR2:
- better Campaign experience, not the best in gaming history but with great directing and a humorous plot that somehow blend together well. A combination of great voice acting from celebs, and anime-network (somehow i felt that the female cast did a better job).
- slight improvement in animations and 3rd person shooting, some absurd weapons, some old weapons are stripped too.
- vehicle controls are improved over SR2 but still feels arcade enough to enjoy. Minimal 'taxi' npc though the city unlike GTA4. Option to fly A10, vtol... :)
- player costumes have been streamlined (lesser). I believe SR3 provide more variety of style (again, female characters have more option to play around with) and easier to navigate.
- improvement in graphics, SR2 looks quite like GTA3.5 - 4. SR3 is miles better than its predecessor. For 2011 standards, its 7.5/10. (NOTES: PC version, have additional effects that made it look better than the consoles - DX10, SSAO, larger draw distance, texture quality slightly better)
- the game feels fresh and there never a dull moment in the game, different from SR2 or the clusterfest of serious games. SR3 will wipe a smile to your face with its over the top, media reference or its sexual theme.
- A large portion of minigames, of SR2 which ppl love arent brought forward to SR3 instead players are given a few new minigames (which arent exactly fun but meaningful to the overall plot/theme). Crib customization, gang wars, business upgrade are lost. Maybe Volition want to make it feel new and different.
- made good use of licence tracks, with modern and 80's theme.
- 3 fractions with 3 different specialist to spike up the difficulty
How SR3 could be better:
- Certain portion of main campaign feels stripped or at least parts that i thought would provide a great laugh or fun were missing. Overall rushing through will probably last 10hrs (pretty short). i spend 30hrs for 100% completion. Although theres option for co-op and whore mode, i does get a bit boring after 1-2hrs. Not surprised THQ made several DLCs after release.
-No competitive multiplayer and an underdeveloped co-op experience (2player limit). Campaign co-op is great, but after that its just lackluster. No competitive challenge between co-op partners like RDR or even addtional content for co-op. Coop feels like its been squeezed in by THQ to make it sale well.
- need more radio playtime and more radio stations. Existing Radio stations have a great variety of quality tracks but lack of quantity. Often, you would be listening to the same tracks over and over again.
- retarded ai both friendlies and foes, a slight improvements of SR2 but still a retard
verdict:
SR3 is a really good campaign that its enough to justify a $60 content and with addition of co-op and whore mode as an additional content.SR3 isnt following the footsteps of SR2, Volition decided to make SR3 different.
PS: I brought this game along with skyrim, i alternately switch between both skyrim and SR3 just to keep my frustration in check. Skyrim is a dead serious game and SR3 just made me smile.
