Why'dya have to go and make things so complicated?

Why'dya have to go and make things so complicated? A little Avril Lavigne for those of you who didn't get it. Sidetracked is a very unique game with a very interesting style. On the surface it's your basic anime-made-into-a-video-game type of game. You hack and slash your way through various levels and eventually wind up at the end. Simple right?

Wrong! This game has one of the most confusing battle systems I've ever seen! It's based on a hip-hop rhythm with new combos for each new song you purchase. It takes quite a while to get used to the gameplay, but when you do it’s a nice change from your typical action games.

The storyline itself amazed me. Never before have I seen a game based off an anime that wasn’t completely illogical when compared to the anime. The YuGiOh series…do any of those games really have anything to do with the anime? And Inuyasha: The Secret of the Cursed Mask? Seriously, does that even make sense? But this game surprised me. It stems from the show and basically tells of another adventure the three companions face while on their search for the Sunflower Samurai. I was impressed in that it did no injustice to the plot of the game itself. It even had the English voice actors!

All in all it’s a good game if you like new and unusual gameplay. If you’re a Samurai Champloo fan already, this game is for you!
