Just when you thought you had nothing else to achieve in SW2, Koei shows up some cool extra stuff

The Xtreme Legends pack almost feels like a mandatory thing to have when you finish Samurai Warriors 2.

First things first: you MUST have the SW2 DVD to play this game since, unlike on Playstation 2, XL is not a whole game itself (well, actually I'm supposing that PS2 works like that. I didn't have the opportunity to play the PS2 version). It's more like an add-on.

Samurai Warriors 2 Xtreme Legends adds up to your already great Samurai Warriors 2 game a couple of extra characters (Motochika Chousokabe, Koujirou Sasaki, Yoshimoto Imagawa, Katsuie Shibata, Toshiie Maeda and Gracia), each of them with their own Story Mode (and Dream Mode). So far, no news. The Story Mode is pretty much the same of the main game, no changes were made in the gameplay or anything. Except for the presence of a couple of new campaigns, but most of them are campaigns to which you have already been.
A cool game mode called "Mercenary" was added. In this mode you can choose any of the 32 characters available to play (including Okuni and Ranmaru Mori) and play several missions (at the regular Campaigns style) with one goal: unify Japan under a clan's name, which is chosen according to the frequency of which you play for a determined clan. Unlike the regulars campaigns, in the Mercenary Mode you can go straight to your goal. No need to care for wiping other generals (though there are certain occurrences that might be an obstacle for you, like ambushes that will decrease your life gradually and pre-conditions, like not being able to use the Musou or starting the campaign with only 30% of your life). It is a great mode to grind your characters.

There is not much to say about Xtreme Legends that wasn't mentioned on my regular Samurai Warriors 2 review. A cool expansion pack if you liked Samurai Warriors 2 and if you are a fan of Koei's Musou series. Worth playing it!
