A solid entry for the series , and a decent game for the PSP . Is it worth your money or not ?
The game takes place during the Sengoku period of Japan , and historically it has some basic accuracy , but the characters , fights are heavily relying on fiction . The story unfolds via comic-like sheets , with no voice acting ( except some yells in the fighting sequences ) , but overall it does the job done .
Graphically the game is not pretty ... at all . The view distance is around 10 meters , and you cant see from one side of the battlefield to the other . The character and weapon animation looks nice in spots , but thats all .
The sound is recycled all the time , its not bad , just that the yells that enemies or your general is doing can be often annoying .
The gameplay is pure hack & slash , combined with some basic TBS elements , what is pretty enjoyable actually . You have tons of characters and story parts to choose from , and the level design is great for ruthless fighting . The game gets repetitive fast , but for those who like the concept the game will remain fresh for some time .
The game is long if you play it trough with the more than 30 characters , and there is a multiplayer mode to , which can be fun for a couple of hours even , but I guess not many people will have the chance to try it out .
With all the negative or mediocre impressions the game could make for the buyer , I have to admit , as idea it fits perfectly the PSP . No , the game is pretty good , and I overall enjoyed it , but I don't think that many gamers will be so forgiving as I am . But if you get into the game , and like it , than it could nearly a life-taker . The best part is , that now , you will probably find this game for around 10$ in the bargain bin , and if you do , buy it , because it doesn't hurts to try .
