Although there are better, ( including the "Dynasty Warriors" games ) its still not bad.

Being a fan of the "Dynasty Warriors" games, ( and historical novel, all 2,000 some odd pages of it ) this game also grabs my fancy. The overall feel is the same as "Dy Wars" but with less characters, a some what different combat and experience system, and indoors as well as outdoors boards. Just like "Dy Wars" you can also make your own warrior to use in the game. The Koei team ( which makes both games ) decided to take a slightly different course in this area though. In this game, the characters looks are pre-programed unlike the more choice oriented "Dy Wars." But unlike "Dy Wars," after you create your warrior, you wont just be able to jump into combat. No you must first go to "warrior school" where you will be faced with challenges. How well you perform in these challenges, determines how well and in what area your character increases and /or decreases. After a set amount of time training, you will have the choice of which Lord to serve. Once your choice is made, the Clan you choose will face you with two trials. After completing both, your score will be added up. Perform well enough, and its " Welcome home." Fail, and all your hard work just went down the drain. Why? Did I mention you cant save your warrior until you have been excepted by a Clan. Kind of sucks. I failed my first go at it. The levels in the game can be long, fast paced, short, you name it. The types vary from all out full scale massacre warfare, to sneaking/stealth missions. As in any war, field intel is very important ( after all, you cant see everything ). You will be asked to carry out different tasks that pop up in the game during the battle. How you handle them, ( or dont ) and if you are successful, will determine the flow and out come of the battle, as well as opening up side missions if you are doing well enough. You can win a battle by just fighting and protecting whoever youre supposed to, but strategy is a big part of this game. Because what you do or dont do in one battle, can determine what happens in the next. Exp. number of enemys, who is your enemy, your number of troops, your officers, your strong holds, your commanders tactics, the enemies tactics, and not to mention your characters power. The better you do, the faster you become stronger, and the more feared you are. "Make yourself a war god baby". My only real complaint is that of the purchasing of skills. Purchasing them isnt the problem, but how you get the points to do so is. My created warrior, ( which is the most coolest thank you ) has reached the end of all his ability bars. And you get skill points every time your bars raise. Now that my bars are at max, I cant get anymore skill points. But this can be remedied by a little thing called a cheat, so I'm not real worried. Overall, this is a game worth having, but probably only if your into the whole historical full scale battle thing. Although there are better, ( including the "Dynasty Warriors" games ) its still not bad especially if you dont feel like taking the time to work on such a large game as in the "Dynasty Warriors."
