Pretty good racing game from the arcades. The game might not have long replay value, it certainly has some cool elements

User Rating: 7.8 | San Francisco Rush 2049 DC
Gameplay: I always liked the San Francisco Rush arcade games, so I thought to get 2049. San Francisco Rush 2049 is like its other prequels. You race around on San Francisco-like tracks (though, in this game, futuristic San Francisco) in a futuristic sport car with other racers with a time limit. There are a total of 4 tracks in this game, but you can change a couple of its weather affects to have it slightly different every time. Besides the main racing and time attack, there are some cool extras added in the game. There's a stunt mode where you race your car through a giant arena where you make jumps and ramps and you soar through the air to do stunt tricks. This mode has a slight Tony Hawk feel this way. There's also a multiplayer mode added for this game. Besides racing, you can also have a battle against 3 other players in a firepower melee. This mode has a Mario Kart Battle feel this way. These extras are very cool indeed, but the game could've had a little more to become a classic. Graphics: The Arcade port of the game ran on N64-ish graphics (This game is also for the N64) But the Dreamcast version of the game improves some of the graphics quite nicly. The game's frame rate is fast and smooth most of the time, but when you are soaring through the air, or if your car explodes, it kind of twitches, which can be annoying. Also, most of the time, during Multiplayer matches, the frame rate slowdowns are more common, considering the Dreamcast has to handle the same exact graphics details for 2 to 4 players. The cars have nice designs and have nice details. The environments are also pretty good too. San Francisco Rush 2049 isn't the most beautiful racing game on the Dreamcast, but the game, overall, looks very nice. (Aside from the minor frame rate problems of course) Sound: The music isn't very flashy and great. Most of the game's music has a mix of techno and rock. The game could've had some better music for a better experience. The sound effects are pretty realistic and act sort of life-like too. Not much else to say here... Conclusion: As said before, the game is a little too short. But the game still offers some great fun in its racing and multiplayer modes. If you're a Dreamcast owner and want a racing game that has some fun in its races, but offers a great multiplayer mode also for people's enjoyment, then San Francisco Rush 2049 is a good choice.
