Saucer Attack is a shoot 'em up style computer game for the Commodore 64. In Saucer Attack, your job is to guard Washington D.C. from flying saucers that are attacking Earth and decide D.C. would be a good start. What made this game stand out from the bazillion shooters that everyone was developing in their grandma's basement, is the detailed (for the time) backdrop of Washington, complete with landmarks such as the Washington Monument. This gave Saucer Attack one-up on the competition, because it gave you the feel that you were actually fighting for something, not just some nameless, desert planet. The game lets you look at the backdrop in peace for a short while, before the saucers appear, at which time you aim your crosshairs at them FPS style and shoot them. If you let the saucers get too far, they reach the monuments and destroy them, leaving the taxpayers to pay for bigger ones. If all monuments are destroyed, you lose.
