Saw 2 attempts to advance the series but fails to improve from the not-so-great first game. Play at your own risk.
The story is seemingly uninspired and revolves around the son of the main character in the first game. Its almost contrived and relies on many redundant plot items from the first game making it feel like the story is just a repeat.
One plus to game is the QTE used for solving the traps. This is also something carried over from the first game and keeps you on your toes. Another positive is the side quests you can do to get puzzle pieces and Billy puppets. Its a nice distraction from the melodramatic storyline. The last good bit was the environment. Levels are beautifully dark and impressive to walk through.
Getting on to the bad stuff. Many of the games puzzles are often involving a jumble of numbers and repetitive mini-games. The balance beam system is absolutely atrocious. I experienced many frustrating deaths because of it. Also, glitches often pop up and could ruin your progress. Be very aware of where your save and check points are. Lastly, the combat system should have stayed the same as the first game. QTE's for combat slow the game down a little. A bad move for the series.
I hope there is not another sequel to this game. If there is anything to be said, Saw 2 is a step down from the first game. Don't play this if your not a fan of the Saw movies.
