User Rating: 7 | Scribblenauts DS
Well Scribblenauts came, and i was so excited. I was tracking the game for a year and i was extremely excited about how i could write anything, solve anything, and create my own levels.

Believe me, Scribblenauts was everything i wanted, until i played it for a couple days. I will give a basic rundown: Graphics/Technical Proficiency, Sound, Gameplay, Story, Replay Value.

Graphics/Technical Proficiency: The cartoonish styles the people working on the game decided to go with is very pleasing. I love the art and how pleasing and charming everything looks. However, when you look something a little closely you will see small objects are extremely blurry, sometimes to the point when you can't tell what it is. The game technically proficient most of the time, however sometimes when there are more than five objects on the screen (that you summoned) the game tends to slow down. I think there have been two times when the game has crashed on me. I think it is the game, not my DS because no other game i own has ever crashed on me.

Sound: The music that loops can become extremely irritating. Some things don't even make sounds. You can use instruments, such as guitars and drums, but you play them they only make sounds for a couple seconds. The one major positive about the sound is that when animals make sounds it definitely adds some atmosphere to the game. Example: T-Rex roaring.

Gameplay: The control is probably the biggest complaint from everyone who owns the game. Let me just say that this is very true. The controls are absolutely horrible. Most of the times your protagonist will die only thanks to the control scheme. Everything is touched screen based, which automatically becomes a disaster. The slogan of the game (write anything solve anything) is true for the most part. However, the developers slurred some words together such as spy and thief, motorcycle car and chariot, and so on. It is very fun though to drop babies into a fire or shoot tax collectors with nail guns. The action can get very repatative however, every once in a while a level comes up that refrehes everything. The gameplay from extremely easy and then gets so hard that I only beat the game by dumb luck. The start screen is where the most fun is, no objective just freewrite. I love the start screen and for me that is an enormous plus.

Story: There is no story but the game definitely could have used one to give you a reason for saving wizards and reviving dead people.

Replay Value: Earning merits in the game is a nice touch, although it is more fun to see what you earned the merit rather than actually getting it. Designing levels takes time and it is pretty fun the first couple of times. Most of the games replay value comes from the start screen.

In the end Scribblenauts is a almost complete package. I would love to see the designers of Scribblenauts come together with Sony make a Little Big World version of Scribblenauts for the big screen. Scribblenauts is a great start and i hope the developers will make a sequel that addresses all of these problems. A fun game for smaller kids though.
