You write the name of an object, and that object drops into the game. A nice concept, but the game does nothing with it

You type the name of anything, and that object drops into your game. A neat concept. But thats only the beginning of a good game. Scribblenauts lacks the gameplay to make use of that concept.

All of the different objects end up being little more than one big gimmick. Nearly all of the objects fall into a couple dozen major categories. A gun, is a gun, is a gun. A car is a car is a car. regardless of what name you use. Its just a different shape.

If you ignore the "20,000 different objects" hook, and just look at the gameplay. Scribblenauts is lacking. Basically on the level of Marker Man Adventures.

You cant control your guy with the D-pad. Clicking on moving enemies with the stylus is a pain. And basically the game is not engaging beyond the novelty of "I type the name of an object, and it drops into the game".

But it does have one neat concept, that you can impress people with, for about 15 minutes. Until they realize you cant go to the moon with that rocketship, and lasor pistol is basically the same as the hunting rifle.

I would have gladly traded a few of those 20,000 objects for some more substantive gameplay.
