A game with a amazing concept but horrible controls and bare bones online connectivity really ruin the magic

I really did want to fall in love with this game and I did but after playing the game and getting into it I realized that it wasn't as fun as I first thought it was

Story:

Simply put there really isn't one all you need to know is you play a character named Maxwell who can spawn anything you want (as long as its not dirty or alcoholic or copyrighted)

Gameplay:

This is where the game is amazing and horrid and I will explain the game is your standard 2-D affair the only difference with this game you can spawn whatever you want and the game has unlimited possibilities you want to ride a T-rex with a top hat a mini mustache go ahead it won't stop you

The game has over 200 levels and they are broken into 10 worlds and 2 segments one segment is puzzle the other is action and they play differently the puzzle world gives you a clue and you need to do it to get a starrite (thats what you need to end the level) and the clues range from helpful like "the man is hungry" or "help the boy bring down the pinata" yet they also can be totally misleading and make you go huh? like "give Santa what he needs" or "hasta la vista starrite" the action stages are more a incomplete platformer level and you can write whatever you want to finish the level up you want god and satan to fight and somehow that will make you jump higher sure go right ahead buddy

There are two amazing things about this game the first is everything you spawn has its own A.I. meaning you spawn a cop he will protect you from criminals, you spawn a hippie he will get angry if you kill or harm anything, you summon zombies they will want to eat your brains..spawn a brain they will chase it summon a vampire they will bite others and turn them into a vampire spawn the sun they will die...it is amazing you will spend countless hours (on the title screen because its basically a free play mode) just summoning things and watch how they react to each other

The other amazing thing is that everything has a physic and the game does have a physic system that works roughly 60% of the time round things roll, heavy things are heavy, boxes stay stationary etc etc and its pretty epic for a DS game sure there is some wonky things going on (like a car flew right in the air after it hit a wall??) but it is tolerable

Yet there are a couple of flaws that completely ruin this game and the first and foremost is the controls this is one of the main reasons it got a 7.5 the controls completely hinder the game and when you get to the more advanced stages where you need to be precise and accurate it makes the game almost unplayable you control everything with the touch screen so you want maxwell to move to the left you tap the left of the screen you want him to move right you touch the right side and so on and so forth yet the problems are when you spawn objects and you need to touch them to move them around and instead Maxwell will run head first like a special needs child into enemies or a hole or lava with no remorse and makes some simplified levels infuriatingly hard

Another problem is the level editor the game boasts an amazing level editor but honestly its nothing you can't alter the terrain at all you just edit whats on the terrain and its also very constricting at times because there is a little meter that fills up with how many objects you can place and for some reason the user created levels fill up faster and the normal ones that the creators made has more objects in it

Another thing this game boasts is its online support how you can download levels from the Wi-fi connection well this is a total lie you can only trade maps with your friends!!! thats it there is no central hub where others can trade and comment on maps or the top 5 daily map picks or whatever its just you and your friends playing on edited maps

Finally the last problem is after awhile after all your creativity has been used up (and it will) there will be nothing stopping you from using the same 3 objects over and over again you will constantly use god to kill enemies, use wings to get to a high place, etc etc the levels just get boring since you use the same methods over and over again to achieve your goal

Graphics:

The graphics aren't that bad they are enjoyable to look at and see limitless creations but there is one bad thing that is there are some objects that are just re skinned and called something different

Audio:

The audio is ehh for me some creatures make the same noise over and over again humans make the same noise the music is ehh too its not annoying but it isn't that good

Pro's

Finally get to interact with a game's environment, everything you spawn has its own physic and A.I. function, the title screen is epic, some levels are fun and thought provoking, a lot of content to keep you busy, very unique

Con's

Horrible control scheme, bare bones online support, some levels are too vague or hard to completely understand what to do, some objects are re skinned, when your creativity dies down you will use the same items to beat the level, some levels are too constricting to use your imagination, there are some objectives that seem impossible due to the game itself for example there is some missions to get past a enemy but you can't harm the enemy and the game doesn't have anything to contain them I tried jail, cell, prison, knock out gas, net, cage, and more the game spawns them but it doesn't do anything to the enemy I usually throw them inside a car, no health bar so you never know when your weak, some objectives repeat themselves, the level editor

Overall:

Overall the game is fun and unique but the controls are just too horrid to even play the game I have died so many times on the simplest levels thinking there is something seriously wrong here
