A Gundam Fans Dream, Almost

User Rating: 9 | SD Gundam G Generation Portable PSP
A while ago now i used to play SD Gundam G Generation F on the ps1, and it was brilliant, but flawed, it was hard to unlock suits that had to be leveled to be unlocked, you had to work through the whole story before going back to missions, making grinding very hard if your just starting, and it was on 4 discs, which was a pain in the ass for pretty obvious reasons.

Then in 2006 i heard that they where porting it to the psp, with updated series! I was hyped, but when i got it i was a little disappointed, this is my only big gripe about the game, where are the side stories? F was great as you played missions from the side stories, but only main series appear on this, and its not due to size restrictions as the game does not fill a umd, which makes me think its good old fashioned Japanese game thinking, always leave room for a sequel or 20, give people almost everything, but keep it all for next time!

That aside though this is a brilliant portable game, remembering it was out before Disgaea AOD, levels start easy buy very quickly become very difficult, you can make them easy by using super high powered suits, buy that spoils the challenge, the real fun is making you dream team up and taking them to battle upgrading and evolving along the way.

Multiplayer would have been nice like the ps1 version but its not to be, maybe next time though, with the release of the psp go i hope we get to see a follow up to this, once again updating the series but i beg of them, please put the side missions back in, i dont care about cut scenes, just add the maps and text!

Theres alot of japanese here so to enjoy the plot it helps to either to be able to read japanese, or know the plots of the series, if your not a gundam fan id stick with Disgaea or Final Fantasy Tactics though
