SL is not really a 'game'..it's more like a tool
First off: as a 'game', I'd say SL is mediocre. But it would be unfair to label it as a game. It's not really..it's like a device. While I don't like SL as a game, it would be unfair for me to rate it completely unfavorably because of all the potential that lies in it. We're talking creativity, politics, discussion, object creation, everything. While I was playing SL, I saw a real universe. A frightening real one that relied on Lindin dollars.
SL is impressive because of what it accomplished. We have, ladies and gentlemen, an online society. Now don't get me wrong. The graphics are only so-so, but its impressive for what its trying to do. The functions may be limited..or so they seem? Because they aren't limited at all. Only limited to the capabilities of you the player. SL demands that you give back to get back. You can't enjoy it if you just dick around sitting by yourself.
In short, I liked SL, but didn't love it. It wasn't revolutionary for me or anything. In fact, I wouldn't even recommend it. But I respect it because of how crazy its scope is. By far not a perfect idea, and definitely not even close to a perfect 'game', but something that deserves credit for what its done and what it can 'potentially' do. This is the ultimate "not for everyone" label
