Would have liked to play longer but the game is dead in the water

User Rating: 5 | Section 8 PC
Section 8 could have been a great game. The concept is good, the story although generic is no worse than anything else out there, sound and graphics are decent and the gameplay again is as good as most other games of the genre; so what's wrong with it, why only a 5?

Well for a start the game is another title that was designed for online play with a very short single player campaign tacked on the end; and by short I do mean SHORT. It took less than 3 hours to complete. I hate developers that do this and then sell the title as single and multiplayer because single player it aint, not when SP lasts less than 3 hours. Even then the short campaign is again very generic and seems rushed out the door with a tutorial mode that was obviously designed to fit in with the short campaign, it tells you to use wasd to move; thats it, tutorial over. The game then proceeds to equip you with the various loadouts and dumps you into a mission without so much as a hint; it's a press it and see tutorial obviously. Of course as each mission has a different loadout it is sadly transparent that they were only shoved into the game in the first place to give you an idea of how the classes work in multiplayer.

So, with a game so geared towards multiplayer it must be good right? No idea. Only two servers were running and both of these had zero players.

To sum up. Very short campaign, dead multiplayer with no players.
