Offline: great. Online: not so much.

WARNING: I am only reviewing the OFFLINE portion of this game. I do not have Xbox Live, so I cannot review the online portion of the game (though most of the reviews I have read seem to indicate that it fails miserably as an online game). If you want to know how the offline portion of the game is, read the reviews for Sega GT 2002 (I recommend Gamespot and IGN) and then add 2 or 3 % to the score. It is everything that 2002 had, and then some: more tracks, more cars, more modes, and more. One improvement I didn’t notice mentioned in most of the reviews is fully customizable controls. I personally was EXTREMELY happy about that. There’s also a new mode of “mini-games” which reminds me of some of the challenges in PGR2: time challenges, clean driving, cone challenges, and such. One important problem: according to some reviews and some message boards, you can’t exactly import your old Sega GT 2002 saves properly. You’re supposed to be able to, but apparently it doesn’t totally work. Bottom line: don’t buy this as an online racer, but as an excellent offline racing sim. However, if you already have Sega GT 2002, you may not want this. If you haven’t bought 2002 yet, then go ahead and get this one.
