Serious Sam = Serious Fun

This is game is similar to the old Doom games. It has a basic philosophy which enables to concentrate on one thing; kill. In this game you will kill and then you will kill more. It's something that has been done before with Doom and other similar old games. But, this game does it right. You will find a variety of weapons along the way, but surprisingly some of them are not easy to find. Bullets are important because there are so many enemies, and you can easily drain your bullets on them. But, they give you plenty of bullets and you won't find yourself stuck; even the default two pistol configuration will get the job done for awhile. The enemies don't represent the best graphics in the world, or even in the game, but there are a variety of them. The game throws at you a few different types of mobs and says "go deal with them" and you'll find yourself shooting for minutes at a time.
It's possible to get sick of just shooting, but this game wasn't made to give you a deep RPG experience. It was meant to just entertain you as a killer. It succeeds in doing that quite well. The graphics are pretty weak compared to new games now, but they still do the job. In a strange way some old graphics get you into the game more than the new graphic engines do. It might be because I am a old timer and I've played the older games that didn't look like Bioshock. The levels are well designed though and that makes a big difference. But, I would put this game up against Bioshock or any new FPS right now. This game delivers in where it counts the most ....game-play. Too many games now rely too much on graphics and stories to make them good. They don't have the game-play that makes you feel immersed. This has that.
