For this genre, you would be hard pressed to find a better game!

This game is deserving of any and all accolades that it has already received. The visuals are simply stunning, and really go a long way in making the game feel much more than the 2-D side-scrolling game that it actually is...enemies and interactions from the background add the element that perfectly fleshes out about as much 3-D visuals and action as could be extracted from a game that truly is 2-D. Controls are crisp and conforming to your character and his environment, and as you progress through the game (adding items and upgrades which enhance your characters abilities) these elements become ever more prominent. There are a fair amount of unique items, equipments, and weapons to be found throughout the game, accompanied with numerous upgrades hidden strategically throughout the game world; all of these serve to encourage players to explore the well designed landscape in search of said upgrades (who are in turn rewarded for so doing). The storyline is simple, yet intriguing, perfectly fitting the mold for a quick-moving action game. This game meshes elements from old classics like Super Metroid and Bionic Commando to create a refreshing example of how this genre still has a lot to offer (while often over-shadowed in a world of 3-D console and PC games). Simply put, for its genre, this game has reached into the realm of perfection! (As a 28 year old, I grew up with NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis throughout my childhood...believe me when I say I have blazed through countless titles within this genre, so I am certainly well versed in this area!)
