If you don't mind a small plot and overly funny dialogue pick this up.

User Rating: 9.1 | Shadow Hearts II PS2
Shadow Hearts: Covenant had alot to live up to with the resounding success of it's predecessor. The plot is thin at most with only the flat out humorous dialogue to hold it together. Granted the side quests left alot to be desired. It seemed like they were going for way-over-the-top bizarre and not really adhering to the storyline at all. The story itself is pretty well played out with very well done voice acting. The usage of real historical people (roger bacon) and places all over Europe and Asia make for a very learned and compelling storyline.
The Judgement Ring is again in the forefront and by far the best part of the game. The Ring is sectioned off into blank, yellow and red sections. You're job is to have the arm swing around the ring and hit the yellow (blue if it's a magic attack) sections to hit the target. The red sections are for stronger hits but are, of course, much smaller than the red. If you miss the ring at any time then it's goodbye turn and on to the next person. The introduction of a combo system (having multiple characters go on the same turn) adds to the overall excitement of the game as well as adds to your frustration when you miss.
The music id done to a point fo perfection due to the fact the soundtrack was inspired by Yasunori Mitsuda (the genius behind Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross).
RPG fans will love this game as long as the timing of the eyes to the fingers are well in tuned.
