Dark and ominous made like no other.

Part of this review is from a reply I had made to a post in the forums. It explains some of its limitations as well as what I think overall of the game: "I must profess a love of Shadow Man that is unequaled to the vast majority of the games I have played, this game stands out as another well thought out game in its storytelling and presentation. The prologue, setup, and profiles of the killers is not short of complete thoughtfullness of story, the driving force which compels you to drive forward. So few games have you prepared for such magnitude, so as to come across one that does, it is an experience that is not forgotten. Games like this are what people seek as artform. As I own and played both the dc and n64 versions more times than could be considered healthy, I have a good idea as to its premise and form. While I agree that the game did not receive the best of scores and some areas were only slightly less than perfect, Deadside just needed a few more items or referances to confirm its validity and the boss battles were monotonus as in that more variety was needed. So few games have given me such dread as to know I needed to go to Deadside to accomplish something or to know that I needed to spend long hours there, but enjoyed it thourghly as the places to go and very interesting and helpful items I needed to get. This was very satisfying and not without purpose. I find nothing wrong with item/powerups gathering as it would greatly reduce a games gameplay, otherwise it degenerate to simple shooting, or walking about aimlessly, which would be monotonous (Turok: Evolution or any shooter or game of this generation) The environments walls were blurry, as they were in the n64 and dc versions, I would account for that as a limitation on hardware, an understandable shortcoming. The dc version was by far superior, but given the enormity by which some objects and walls needed to be mapped, something had to give, but in no way significant enough to warrant attention given the scope of its world. An complete understanding of the limitations of consoles should in no way be compared to games played on its pc brethren, as this is rather mute. Yes, sound and resolution were not at its best, the gameplay and the story is what makes a game, and this has few contenders. " A game like this does not come along very often, few developers put much thought of story into their games as much as this, as well as the ways and means to get around. Whether it be swimming, walking, rail, jumping, or wire, few games import so much variety of transport, useful and cool items, exploration, hilarious characters, and ominous story gives this game depth that few will appreciate. I implore those who have not tried this game to do so, as it is topnotch. Research and knowledge of voodoo, serial killers, and the hereafter will greatly enhance the game that is Shadow Man.
