Soooo violent
The violence is definetly a key part of this gladiator game, where you play a man whos father is wrongly accused of the assasination of Cesar. Of course he hasn't done it, but you know the drill. You are then thrown into the mix by playing the newly promoted gladiator who seeks justice through fighting in the colosseums all over the Roman empire. Heard it before? I think you have. To add a little spice to the tention, you will also have to play the superwimp Octavious. He's the Sam Fisher of his time. And you better believe it. The stealth part of the game is a bit boring, and it does feel like something thats just there to create variety from the bloody roars of the colosseum crowds. Not anything special, but I guess in the long run it's a good idea. The fighting could well become a bit to much of the same without the stealth input.
The grapichs in this game is oh so very red. By that I mean bloody. I don't think that I have ever seen so much blood in so little time. The weapons a scary as a shark heading towards you in open water, and they can really do some serious damage to your opponent. You are rewarded salvos (applause) by pleasing the crowd, and that will determine your score. Bronze, silver or gold. But you have to be creative, because the crowd will not accept the same manouvre over and over again. I.E. try cutting someones head off, and then throw it at an opponent. Then cut anothers arm off and throw it to the crowd. Gore equals succes here. Not very political correct but who cares anymore.
The sound is good and the blistering roars of blades hitting really gets you in the right mood. Nothing especially bad here.
The controls makes up for an easy way trough the battlefield. It feels and reacts very nice.
Overall this is a good game, that I would recommend for anyone who isn't to light hearted.
...We who are about to die - SALUTE YOU!...
