At first, stare in amazement @ the awesome scenery and gameplay ~ but at the end, slightly repetative & predictable...
Now back to this game, Shadow of the Colossus....
Gameplay:
Same as its predecessor, REVOLUTIONARY!!! But this one takes it furthur to a new level and above any limit which no-one would have imagined. I wont go into much about introduction as Gamespot says most of it. However, you do get that tingling feeling once u see that 1st Colossus. Just the shear size of size makes u sit further back from the tv.
It is quite frustrating size the framerate in this game is slighly slow and lags sometimes, probably because the Colossus' are sooo big. After killing the 1st Colossus, you would tend to think that they are gonna become harder as u progess thru it ~ not true. You use the same method to kill the next few Colossus and it starts to be predictable. And u'll be saying to urself, is dat just dat it? Do I have to kill these things 16 times? I mean yes, discovering the next Colossus is very exciting, but finding a tactic to kill it is fairly simple. Im not an expert gamer, but i takes me 10 odd minutes at max to figure out. The only Colossus wid any difficulty is the last Colossus, of course. Overall, its exciting to play dat different style of gameplay, however the game jsut passes by too quickly. It doesnt give u to do something to do in betweem to take that sting out of u after fighting a Colossus.
Graphics:
Same as its predecessor...again. I know that the designers of the game intended to use this kind of 'historical', light coloured graphical effect. Good side ~ gives the game a more realistic depth and monumental feeling effect. Bad side ~ the bright areas are super bright and the dark areas super dark. It does hurt ur eyes a bit. However, its just wnaderful to actually look into the horizon, i must say. Its like an endless piece of land, one hoesntly could not decribe it in words.... beautiful? haha. Newayz, since its unique, I cannot critize it.
Sound:
The last time, I've ever heard a soundtrack as good as dis was back in 2002 wen FFX came out. Kow Otani blends the sound in so well wid the gameplay, it takes the who gaming experience to another level. I hoesntly couldnt say nething bad about it. Super compositions and arrangement of the tracks....MASTERPIECE.
Value:
Repetative and fairly short. Only took me 5 hrs and 11 minutes to complete. In real life... err.... 3 days, hehe. The first 15 Colossus only too me, 4 hrs and 21 mins. So you could see how long it took me to firgure out how to klill the damn last Colossus. It practically the 2nd shortest game i've ever played. DMC wins it by lasting me 3 hrs and 21 mins.
Overal, A VERY DIFFERENT EXPERIENCE to any game out dere wat so ever. In this game, size does matter and it works very well. I would say it lacks some gameplay in between encountering the Colossus' would even step up the game to another level. Getting the hype of facing another Colossus is just too quick. Lastly storyline in which you have to think and assume things. I came online instantly after i completed the game in order to find an answer for the ending. I understood it partially but didnt understand some bits. Could be a much better game even though it is already one.
My advice, rent it for 3 days, complete it within the time.... enjoying a new revolutionary game... ^^ and be a happy gamer
