This game is not so much a game as it is an experience. Sure you control the hero throughout the adventure, but this really isn't about playing the game. It is about experiencing the game. It's odd to describe, but there is no other game quite like this. Well, maybe ICO, but not even really ICO because that has a different ambiance to it. This game is so vacant you end up just enjoying the landscape for being a landscape and that is okay, even though it seems like you should be fighting something along the way. The story is emotional and sad and so much of it is written by your own imagination that it can change upon each playthrough.
The graphics are great for the PS2, maybe with only RE4 giving it a hard time. This game will forever piss some people off, and forever haunt the rest of the gamers who played this and felt that the game sucked a part of them into it.
The experience leaves you feeling like you did something amazing but you can't put your finger on it because there are so many unanswered questions. The game is frankly a beautiful experience that I would never trade in for anything else.
This game ranks as number three on my top five list.
