A game of a lifetime. Magical.
From the makers of ICO comes Shadow of the Colossus, a game that will return you that magical feeling. As you play the game you will feel exhilarated by the hunt for the Colossus. It will tickle your brain, your reflexes and, most importantly, your heart. By the end you will feel emotionally drained, exhausted and maybe just a little frustrated. But talking about Shadow gives it no credit at all.
The graphics and, indeed, the whole feel of the game is pure art in motion. The screenshots do it no justice. Be forewarned: the framerate dips, but you'll be so involved in the fights, you will hardly feel it after the first few Colossus fall. And you will see them fall - accompanied by some of the most touching music ever composed and it will make you wonder who, exactly is the villain of the game.
The camera, however, almost spoils it. While horseback riding it is only too perfect. Cinematic and wonderful. But when the fighting does start, you will find yourself battling another Colossus, one much harder to control.
The sound is heaven - be it voices (in another, otherworldly language, mind you); or the hauntingly magical soundtrack. Indeed, a nice bonus they could have included would be the soundtrack.
The story, while skimmy at first, will gain form like a true fairytale.
The game is not long, and replayability consists entirely of replaying the fights again, but don't let that stop you. You might just find yourself going back - and crying again the next time a Colossus falls over, dead.
This was, without a doubt, the best game I have ever played. If you want a game that makes you feel goo again while tempering with your emotions, look no further.
