If you're looking for something a little different, go pick up of Shadow of the Colossus. You won't be disappointed.
Gameplay is great. The concept of having several boss battles without any of the henchmen-bashing filler is wonderful. Each of these battles is, of course, unique; and each colossus has its own little "puzzle" that you must figure out in order to damage it. Be sure to listen to the guy in the hole on the ceiling of the temple, all of his mumbo-jumbo is genuinely helpful.
My only complaint on the gameplay would be that it was occasionally difficult to control my character, especially when on the horse. Even so, this is minor. In fact, one of my most memorable battles involved shooting at the colossus from the horses back...while moving.
The graphics of the game are superb. Not quite God of War quality, but definitely up there. The environments are gorgeous and very spacious. You could spend hours simply exploring the countryside. The game has very good sound. It's better than an arcade MIDI soundtrack, that's for sure. Some of the sound effects, however, do get annoying after a while (pretty much any sound the horse makes.) But the soundtrack is very good. The music changes to the moods of the colossi and it even might make you feel sorry for some of the colossi as they are dying.
Is it worth the price tag? Well, as the Greatest Hits edition costs only $20.00 or less...YES! There is much replay value in this game and even if there weren't, one run through would surely be worth the money.
So, to wrap it up, if you're looking for something a little out of the ordinary, there is no better choice than Shadow of the Colossus.
