Slntkilla's review for Shadow of the Colossus.

User Rating: 9.7 | Shadow of the Colossus PS2
Introduction: This is one of the most innovative and different games I have ever played. Now, some people don't like change. This game makes me want to give all different games a chance. I will say one thing though, this is not for the casual straight-forward gamer; this actually involves skill and logic to beat.

Gameplay: The gameplay in this game is what makes this great. The control layout works perfectly with the game. The amount of skill and thinking involved in the game, challenges the gamer. The time attack modes will make you sweat to meet the time limit. This is not a game that you can pick up and start playing. It does take practice. The first colossi alone took me 5 times before I got the hang of it. This is a very unique gaming experience, so I give gameplay a 10/10.

Graphics: This game really pushes the PS2's graphical limitations. The detail in every part of the game is amazing. There are not pre-set backgrounds, everything is 3D and interactive. The design on the colossi is incredible. This game really makes up for the PS2's textural limitations. I give the graphics in SOTC a 9/10.

Sound: I would love to rate the sound for this game in depth, but there is really no sound. What sound there is though is very good. The horse sounds so real, and the sound of the colossi and it's attacks/movement makes it sound like you are there. The music for this game blends well with the style and environment of the game. Because of the small lack of sound I give the sound an 8/10.

Value: The value for the game is what really sets this game off. The replay value is great. The time attack make you want to get all of the items, and go back and use them in the story mode. Also, the "top of the temple" theory has been proven, so people want to get to the top of it. Overally the value of the game can't be beat. I give the value a 10/10.

Overall: This is easily an instant classic. The hours spent playing this game are endless. It is just too hard to stop playing. Once you pick up the controller you won't want to stop. SOTC is a great game and hopefully will go down as one of the greatest games ever made. My overall score of Shadow of the Colossus is a 9.6/10.
