Personally I never played a game like this. Who woulda thought that there was going to be a game just based on boss battles. There's no minions at all in this game just you and a few mountains that want to kill you. Overall the game has everything well balanced and polished except for the graphics and story. The graphics are on the fuzzy side like ICO graphics, but it doesn't effect the game play to the point where it gets in the way. But on the upside of mediocre graphics, the loading time is almost none existent (except when loading a save file or warping back the start point) even better the environment is almost boundless. There almost no story but it should affect the gameplay unless you are used to a game where you need to be driven by a story.
Overall I would recommend getting this game used or borrow it. 40 bucks new for such a short game is not worth it in my book (reminds me of when Fable first came out 50 bucks for a 15 hour game). I mean beating the game one time on easy and an another time on hard should take about 30 hours total at the most because the second time through on hard isn't really that much time consuming because you should probably know all the weak points on the Colossi. Time Attack might be worth it if you got nothing else to do but you can't use your items that you get in Time Attack itself, so that might turn people away. But the short story is you have to try it out.
