Good game, but has some faults.

User Rating: 8.1 | Shadow of the Colossus PS2
Well, after all of the reviews i finally decided to get this game. i mean, everyone was giving high marks, so it had to be good right?

Well, yes and no.

Pros:
The Colossi. It can't be stressed enough just how good these things are. everything from the details to the behaviour is TOP NOTCH. the collosi make the game, and they range from big to 'Colossal'.

The graphics are great by PS2 standards, incorporating HDR and Bloom to an extent, as well as motion blur. the character models and environments have been designed with every little detail in mind. everything from the horse's main to the colossi's fur to the trees and waterfalls that make up the environment. there are moments when you just stand back, pan the camera, and take in the vast land that the colossi inhabit. i can only imagine what this game will look like with 'next gen' graphics.

The controls, while a little clumsy at first, are actually very well executed. after about 1 hour, they become second nature, and the comfort level with the different control moves becomes second nature.

Cons:
The camera. This would have to be the worst camera in the history of gaming. it is just impossible to get the stupid thing to point and stay in a certain position. this is especially frustrating when you're trying to jump around the limbs of a colossus and the camera keeps on rotating.

The game is too short. there are 16 colossi, and they are all great to play against, but it wil only take 2-3 days to finish the game on normal AND hard difficulty. unfortunately, the replay factor of this game is almost non-existant. nothing is really added other than a time attack mode. the only saving grace is that some of the colossi battles are so well designed that it is fun to play them again and again.

Did i mention the camera sucked? I mean it. This is the worst camers IN THE HISTORY OF GAMING!!!

The game is a great game for anyone who is a fan of fantasy, action or greek mythology. overall, i would recommend that you rent this game, as it is very short.
