Sega has apparently gave up on Sonic.

User Rating: 4.2 | Shadow the Hedgehog (Player's Choice) GC
Shadow was first seen in Sonic Adventure 2 for the Dreamcast. After appearing in the Sonic games following it,he now has his own game. Was it a good idea? Not really.

I want Sonic, not Shadow. Segas' mascot is Sonic, not Shadow. Sega is popular for Sonic, not Shadow. Shadow was a good "extra",but nothing worth giving him his own game. Sonic is in this game, but you never control him.

As soon as you start the game, you start the story with some cutscenes. Then, you jump into an action level. Already, the game is tough. The games speed is sometimes way up there and its hard to keep control of Shadow. The courses are also sometimes confusing, and the game also switches from the hero side to the dark side on the same course, then back again. It doesn't make scense. It should be like Sonic Adventure 2,where you could choose to be Sonic or Shadow, instead of a mix of both.

The graphics are semi good. They are blocky at times and the framerate also gets low sometimes. The colors also aren't really clear or crisp. I only played the GC game,so I'm not sure if the framerate/color is better on the other consoles or not.

Also,I just found this game boring. After playing for a little while,I didn't really have any interest to keep playing, and I didn't feel like coming back to it to play again.

I know that some people love Shadow,so therefore they'll love this game. Like all reviews, everyone has their opinion. So,in my opinion,Shadow the Hedgehog is not a fun game by any means, and its sometimes confusing courses and gameplay don't make it any better. This game was not worth the $50 price tag when it was first released. Maybe you can pick this up when the price drops to $20.
