It's as I was playing double dragon in 3D ; not the same game at all but the spirit came through: Occident meet Orient.

I couldn't play much more demanding in late 90s with a cheap-no-3D-accelerator computer so even though I didn't hear much about this game, I eventually got to it and lucky for me !

The graphic detail for the technology was unbelievable! The attention spent on the texture came through with a very nice game. I remember the feeling of what I was experiencing: It's as I was playing double dragon, or other martial arts fighting game, in 3D ; it's not the same game at all but the spirit came through: western culture meet its asian counterpart.

Just as its engine predecessor, Duke nukem 3D, this game is packed with action and humor. The game feature innovative & themed (asian inspired) weapons. I have a hard time putting my finger of what I found so addictive about this game but I played it at least 3 times ; the maps and plot were very interesting. The monster were varied and the difficulty balanced. I think I know what made this game stand out, a lot of the action was outside, unlike many of its 3D predecessors, as as having irregular maps pushing away from the boxed-in interior settings; also not forgetting the sheer fun of the game.

Many levels visit asian cultures from it's modern places, as industrial setting with mechanic/hydrolic/informatic machinery, to ancient asia where nature is dominant, to fantasy asia in perilous surreal settings. I didn't know much about asia (and still don't but let's not get in wisdom rhetoric) so this was exciting and inspirational. I'm not sure of local folklore but the monsters look like they may very well be inspired by stories that were passed down generations to generations in Orient.

Overall, it's a very good games for its time which stood out from the past as well as quite action-packed and entertaining.
