A fun shooter, nothing revolutionary but a decent game nonetheless.

Shellshock is one of several Vietnam themed games recently released, and it fails to stand out from the crowd. There is too much gratuitous violence (showing severed torsos with spines hanging out, severed legs, heads etc) and the violence is placed too high on the importance scale, thus sacrificing what could have been a really good story driven Vietnam shooter.

The graphics look like they belong on a PS2, with napalm strikes looking like a half full zippo. Character models are pretty average as well, as are weapons.

The sound isn't bad, with some decent 60s era music and nice sounding weapons, but again, its nothing special.

The gameplay is repetetive but not boring, with a variety of stealth, assault and defend missions thrown in. The controls feel right, except for the weapon switching, which takes too long.

There are some well implemented features, such as collecting Intel/Trophies for chits (currency), but others feel like unneccesary extras, such as "boom boom" with the camps prostitutes.

You should rent this game rather than buy it, as its short and not worth over AU$30.
