i cant stress enough how this game is one of the most memorable and immersive games ever. Even after all these years, newer brlliant games remind me of this dreamcast classic. Playing GTA4 reminded me of the open world detailed environments and character interactions that seemed to grow on you while playing this game...that minus the violence and sex newer games seem to put on to be fun. Shenmue didnt need to do that, it relied on a compelling story, memorable characters, incredibly detailed environments, cool fight scenes etc. This game was a techinical feat during the time...most expensive game to produce, featured graphics and musical score at a level of quality that was never introduced in a video game. It raised the bar of the video game genre thats why we now enjoy big budget quality video game productions (i.e. GTA4). This and shenmue 2 were the reasons why i got the dc back in the day.
