Worth buying a Dreamcast for.

User Rating: 9.5 | Shenmue: Isshou Yokosuka DC
I've been wanting to play this game for years, then one day I said to myself screw it, you only live once, I'm getting a dreamcast just for this.
So I bought a DC with shenmue from ebay and I let me tell you this was one of my best decisions ever.
Shenmue is something beyond video games, beyond movies and even beyond books, it's an experience beyond anything you've ever tried.
This game will give you principles, manners, discipline and, it will show you the importance of patience, friendship and respect to the elderly.
It will show you how far you can take graphics with good art design, I truly believe that this game has better graphics than most games today, it has (obviously) less polygons and all that, but the environments and characters all feel real and that feeling is what makes the game look so real.
I actually felt guilty when I was late home (in the game) after I was asked to be home before 9.
To say that this game was ahead of it's time is a great understating, I think that even today most gamers aren't ready for an experience like this.
If a game with as much investment and attention to details as Shenmue had in it's time came out today it would mean that every leaf on every tree will be different from any other leaf on every other tree in the game, that is the equivalent to the level of attention to details that Shenmue has.
The gameplay in Shenmue is not slow, its deliberate, it forces you to be curious, to want to learn.
After playing Shenmue every other game felt obsolete, when I finished Shenmue it felt like I finished an important part of my life, I felt more mature, more ready for the real world.
If this game was expensive I wouldn't recommend it to everyone but today you can get a Dreamcast with Shenmue (or without and then get Shenmue in other ways *ahem*) for about 30-50 bucks, the price of one ps3 game.
