....the more you play it, the more it grows on you. You can play as either a male or a female. You start out with money and a small farm and build it up. Much like a real farmer, crops fail from disease, weasels steal your chickens, and your dog runs away. So you have to be careful and watch your expenses, decide whether to sell your crops (or eat them - if you don't eat, you die and game over). You can also make food (and give it to you neighbors to raise your status with them and eventually marry).
Pros: the more you play, the more things become available to you - seeds, animals (LOTS of animals) and land.
Cons: you can't really leave your land like in HM but you can visit other houses (as long as you bring food).
You can buy more land and even build up your house. There are also new recipes to try and your neighbors may show up from time to time.
It's a bargain-bin type of game. But nicely done.
