'twas good

This game was unbelievably hard to put down. I think that's the best testimony to a game's quality. It was fun, what a concept. Very different from the other Shin Megami Tensei games, particularly the setting and the gameplay. The setting was perfect, the localization captured the voice of the times and it was very refreshing to go to the 1920s.

The most notable difference in the game is the gameplay. Unlike all the other games in this universe, the action for battles is real time, much like an adventure game.

The best part about the action battles is that it's simple. In fact, simplicity is one of the strongpoints in the game. This is very gracefully done. The storyline isn't totally flat, but for the most part you won't be scrampling figuring out where you need to go next. Of course, there are a few puzzles that just make you want to pull your hair out.

The game carries you pretty well to the end. They start to mix up the bosses then, for better or worse. It adds variety, but it's definitely a curve ball.

One thing to note is that the game is definitely in the same style as its predecessors. The demons are for a good part the same. The art is very similar.
