This is great RPG and it's also very addictive :). Final Fantasy watch out !!! :P
The first thing i notice, right from the intro, was the music, the sound in the game. Let me tell you that there are few game with this kind of sound quality. In some areas i just found my self wondering around, just to listen to the great music :).
The graphics are good, but i prefer characters that are closer to reality (this ones look drawn). But, on the other hand, the spells effects, the monsters and the surroundings are all well designed.
The gameplay is your classic turn-based strategy battles, but they did implement a new thing. When you make a critical strike or when you find the enemy's weakness (ex: attack a fire monster with ice) you get an extra move. The same way, when you miss, or when the enemy is strong against one special attack you lose a move.
The thing that keeps you playing is the great number of abilities, your characters can learn. The abilities tree is very similar to the one from FF X.
You learn something and a new path opens. But there are some special abilities that are unlocked only in special conditions (ex: side quests).
The story is another great part in the game. You don't really understand anything throughout the game :), few things are revealed. But all in all it's very innovative, (not your classic knight in shiny armor against some evil wizard). I must say that although i've beaten the game, the story is still up in the air. Because as you might know there is a Digital Devil Saga 2, which i will play very soon :D.
This was a very good game, great competition for Final Fantasy, and it's one of the few games that i just kept on playing.
